About the Designer
Artist Bio
Trends are a part of every culture. However, there are a few personalities and styles that become iconic and lasting symbols in our society. Trendsetter Jewelry Designs strives to do just that! Before launching her jewelry line, Iris Perry earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Design at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. She has worked as a professional Interior Designer in the Washington, D. C. Metropolitan area for over 15 years doing residential, commercial & hospitality design. She is a native Washingtonian and currently resides in Maryland.
Her strong desire for entrepreneurship has lead her to redirect her design abilities and do what she loves- make jewelry! This has been a tremendous opportunity for her to creatively express herself in an artful way. She is managing her own website, photographing her work, advertising, marketing and meeting great people along the way. Iris Perry has a gift for uniquely adorning individuals with beautiful handcrafted jewelry. For years, her family, friends and co-workers have admired her handmade jewelry and encouraged her to create custom pieces just for them.
Since childhood, she has always had a deep passion and appreciation for the arts, nature and aesthetics. She feels most alive when making her jewelry! It allows her to express herself in a unique & positive way. It is her hope that you see this translated in each and every piece of jewelry she creates. Some of her inspiration comes from her formal training in design, as well as, just re-discovering the simple yet beautiful things that life has to offer.
Artist Statement
I believe that art is an expression of our inner soul! It brings purpose to our lives. When I am designing a piece of jewelry, I go to that special place where I feel the most free, authentic and empowered. I want others to experience the same feelings through wearing my jewelry. For me, it’s not just wearable art; it’s purpose! Sometimes the process is quite simple and other times it is more complex. But, it is always evolving. Creating jewelry helps me to tackle the mundane and explore new possibilities.
I take materials that appeal to me, such as unusual stones and start the process of selecting them for their color, shape and texture. My design ideas often come from nature, geometry, architecture, historical themes, emotions and everyday objects. Then, I ask myself, “what if it is done this way?” I let the process takeover. When, I do this, I am always surprised and pleased with the results. Some of the best outcomes in my designs have come from not knowing much about a particular subject matter or technique. It is simply ideas worked into action that materializes.
My designs are both organic and geometric in structure. They are fashionably feminine and classically designed with a modern energy. The overall outcome is jewelry that is elegant, sophisticated and bold!
